FoodFacts-Allergy, Weight Loss App Reviews

Great Concept, But App Needs Work

I am giving this app one star for many reasons: 1) It lists my recommended calorie intake dangerously low: 986 calories. I am 5 ft. 6 inches and I weight 128 pounds; 2) Something is off with their rating scale --throughout the site. Many organic products are given low ratings and listed as having "controversial ingredients." For instance, Plum Organics pumpkin and banana food pouch is rated a "B" and listed as having "controversial ingredients" and MSGs. Its organic and has three ingredients, so what are the controversial ingredients. Annies organic chocolate chip cookies is given a "D." For 7 grams of sugar in two cookies, with organic ingredients? That seems a little extreme, if you ask me. And vanilla is highlighted as a controversial ingredients? 3) More inconsistent ratings. Atkins Sweet and Crunchy bars (boxed) are rated a "B," while the individual bar is rated a "C." They are THE SAME BARS. This is concerning. The entire App needs to be removed, or a complete overhaul. Inconsistencies throughout and low ratings for many organic products. Something doesnt add up.

Eye-Opening, Useful, and Improving

This app is powerful in that it lets you quickly look up a foods grade, nutrition facts, and ingredients of packaged foods with a quick and simple scan of their barcodes. Info on popular fast foods can also be browsed within the app. If the app lacks info on a food, you can try to submit package photos to an email address given in the app but you have to exit the app to do this. Also, theres no clear way to add information about a food that isnt in their database. This app looks like it has a good future ahead of it, if it continues to receive new users and development.

Great premise, but...

We downloaded this app, and were testing it out with products we have at home. On certified vegan items, the app was saying there were animal products in it. This happened with four products that we tried, and that was our limit. It may be good for some things, but you really need to approach this with caution.

In-necessary personal information

In order to use the app, you need to enter sex, DOB, weight, height, etc. The vendor doesnt state the purpose for this information, how it will be used by the vendor, nor how the data will be protected.

Needs to have Filtering Capability

I input my food allergies and health issues. Then I browsed products. Instead of filtering out the items that would be harmful, I had to scroll through page after page of items with the red slash. Most of the items without the red slash were rated as F or D-. This would be a GREAT app if you could sort items by how good they would be for your particular allergens and health issues instead of just an A to Z list. Definitely not worth the $1.99 a month to see the foods that are best for you.

Fantastic Nutrition App

I am really liking this new Foodfacts App! It’s easy to work and I love that it gives me a list of ailments to choose from and then shows me what foods to avoid. I also like that I can see all the ingredients I’ve eaten each day. It made me re-think what I’ve been eating! Unlike the other user, I haven’t had any issues with my back button or my history. I would suggest giving us a way to send products, but other than that…Love!

Disappointing app that needs a lot of work

This app barely works on my iPhone 6+. It does scan and show you the food facts rating but it has many limitations. The most annoying issue is the time out that easily happen when you scan products at the grocery store and have slow signal. If the app does not get an answer form the site it gives a timeout error and is stuck requiring you to kill the app and start it again. The back button barely works. The history did not work for me ever. When it does not find any info it asks to send pictures of the product but there is no way to do that from the app so whats the purpose of that? Just remove the message or provide a way to send the info for unknown products. This is definitely not worth the price... $.99 at most until it is polished and working fully...

Great concept, needs some work

This sounds like a great app. A great help in figuring out whats in that pre-packaged food. You can scan items on the shelf and the ingredients pop right up. If youre allergic or intolerant to something, you can choose those items on a list of common allergens in your profile. If the food you scan contains the allergen you selected, it will be highlighted in the ingredient list and a big red line will appear through the product picture telling you not to eat it. Sounds easy enough. However, I cant have dairy products. Milk, cheese, butter, etc. I chose dairy on the common allergens list, but I noticed it wasnt picking up milk and cheese in the ingredient list when I scanned items in my pantry. I even added those items in the "specific ingredients to avoid" section. But it still didnt highlight them. Just for fun I scanned some cheese in the fridge. Still no red line telling me to avoid it, even though cheese itself was on my list to avoid. As I said, its a great concept but needs some work to actually be useful.

Cant get past the start page

It looks like a really great app and I would love to use it. However when clicking on login with Facebook it just goes back to the login page time after time.

App freezing regularly

The app freezes regularly when I attempt to view a product. It also does not allow you to sort searches as you can online. This app needs a not of work before it is useable.

very misleading

The nutritional info shows zero, instead of "?" or some other appropriate indication, for unknown amounts of important elements, such as potassium. Thats dangerously misleading for people on medically restricted diets!

Eat Real Food

This is a great app. I really like the scanner, very helpful at the store, and makes me more aware of my purchases. I also like the food diary, it helps me keep track of my daily consumption and progress.

Charged?!

Whoa - I was charged 10.99 for this app????? I thought it was free?????? I deleted it because it wasnt what I was looking for then got a charge!!

Good Start :)

The functions and content seem great, except for the fact that every time I log on, it requests for my Apple ID password. Seems sketchy. I have a few update suggestions: 1) Better gfx. Things dont transition that smoothly, and everything seems a bit messy. A change in appearance would seem nice. Instead of the locked buttons, why not just put one button that says "Premium" where it offers all the premium things, instead of cluttering the side bar? Everything would seem better with either a minimalistic/simple design. 2) A forum where people can chat, share ideas, help each other, etc. A community always keeps apps running long and hard. 3) Add a button where it suggests foods, recipes, meals, snacks, etc. to eat that doesnt have the persons allergies, intolerances, and avoidance foods. It would make things easier and fun. 4) Add more options on the weight drop-down-menu of the profile. When I created my profile, there was a problem where the minimum weight is 100. Im 85 pounds... 5) Fitting for new iPhones and ioss. I have the iPhone6, and the screen doesnt all too well since there are the green boxes extra space at the bottom.

Not Good

Crashed three times within five minutes of loading. Dismissed!

Horrible

Very glitchy. Couldnt even login, Without being timed. Would actually suggest The app to be removed from the sight until its fixed. Why promote an app that doesnt work. Im using iPhone6

Very helpful!

Very helpful app! I love the food diary section that allows me to keep track of my food facts throughout the day. I like that the app has a scanner feature as well it makes it very simple to get the facts about whatever Im eating!

A little confusing but great concept

Great concept but multiple aspects of the app were a little confusing like having to add your birthday but it wouldnt let me choose the month until the last step, not a big deal just a little weird. I think it took awhile to load things as well and needs to look more modern if you want to reach younger demographic.

Nice!

Very helpful. I really like knowing all of the information and there is a good amount of food to look up as well. The scanner is really helpful as well!

Very helpful

This app really helped me to understand what I was eating, and to help make my meals more proportional. I would recommend to friends 10/10
